Vacuum or sweep your floor once a week or as needed.

Remove spills promptly. Use vacuum or broom for dry spills and abrasives. To clean up wet spills, please use a soft cloth and blot up spills or spots with a damp cloth. Use Bona Swedish formula Hardwood floor cleaner or similar.

Place mats at exterior doors to trap sand and grit.

Use furniture leg protector pads under all furniture legs.

Keep the relative humidity in your home between 45% and 60%. You may need either a de-humidifier or a humidifier depending on the conditions. (Relative humidity should never fall below 30% or exceed 60%).

Protect your floor from direct sunlight.

Never damp mop a wood floor. Excessive amounts of water can cause your wood floor to swell and cup.

Avoid walking on wood floors in high heels.

Keep pets claws properly trimmed to avoid excessive scratches and gouges.

Do not use wax, oil soap or other household cleaners on your wood floor.

Do not allow water to remain on the wood floor surface for any length of time.

Re-arrange rugs and furniture periodically so that the floor ages uniformly. U.V. sunlight will change the color of all wood especially in Merbau, Ironwood, Brazilian Cherry, American Cherry and Teak.

As the floor ages, normal wear will cause the floor to lose its shine. The floor should therefore be recoated with proper intervals. Sunfloor can be recoated without removing the factory finish. To restore the luster and extend the wear layer of the floor, recoat with a recommended coating such as Bona Kemi Pacific Strong or Pacific Ultra or Mega or similar.
